CONTACTS | WANTED SCENES | THREADS | JOURNAL ENTRIES PREMISE THIS GAME IS FILM CANON WITH COMIC INFLUENCES. We're following the X-Men film trilogy plot. The comic influences are as follows: • Xavier has returned from the 'dead', now active in his twin brother's previously inanimate, comatose body • Phoenix does as her name suggests • with Phoenix comes the reappearance of Cyclops (as he had disappeared and had not been found 'dead') • Toad and Sabretooth are alive - as per movieverse canon and just because they rock • Psylocke has also returned from the 'dead', much to her twin's surprise and bewilderment (as well as the rest of the school's). She has separated herself from Kwannon and is now nearly back to the Betsy everyone knew before, as Kwannon's body was killed by Phoenix at Alcatraz Island. • comic characters are more than welcome to mesh with movieverse folk and originals alike • post-X-Men III: The Last Stand • Beast (now deceased) returned to the school, declining the President's offer for a spot representing the US at the UN. • the cure has worn off... • the students are half-way through a new and different year and are still recovering from much loss and rebirth. A larger team under the X-Men has been constructed, consisting of the best students and most able contacts. ABOUT MUTANT VAMPIRES: IMPORTANT; PLEASE READ. ABOUT VAMPIRES IN OUR GAME ABOUT INFECTED HUMANS: IMPORTANT; PLEASE READ. A Q AND A WITH DR. MACTAGGART | FAQ The 'mutant cure' has been defeated. Mutants' bodies have rejected the cure and created antibodies to prevent future strains from affecting their systems. However, in doing so, and combined with exposure to the Mutant X gene within them, they have created a new virus (coined 'the Cure Virus') that has infected non-mutant humans who have come in contact with mutants who took the cure. Xavier's School for the Gifted has been turned into a shelter for cured mutants, a base for uninfected human defense and a safe harbor for all other mutants whom the government believe to be dangerous to the efforts in human safety. Xavier's students (those with non-mutant parents) have been sent to the safe zones closest to their local homes. Groups of X-Men saw to it that the non-mutant parents of students were escorted safely to join their children and the rest of the un-infected local populations. For children/students with mutant parents, they have been welcomed to stay at the mansion or to have an escort to a safe zone. If the parents had received the cure (or even the student) he had suggested seriously that parents and children both stay at the mansion. From Magneto's perspective - a virus that's mutated and maimed the majority of the human population isn't terrible at all. The fact that the virus was produced from a 'cure' they attempted to force upon their mutant counterparts only makes it all the sweeter. However, as time passes, the Brotherhood of Mutants is discovering that the absence of able-minded humans in the nation isn't necessarily a good thing. There is no democracy. Modern conveniences are at an extreme minimum in most areas. Things are not as they should be. Mutants, however, are grouping together in small, torn masses with no direction and much fear. While Charles Xavier works toward finding a cure for this new, terrible threat to humanity, Erik Lensherr looks to their brothers-in-genes to band together and make the world right again - fully functioning and with mutants in control. CURRENTLY; The cure for the virus spawned from the Mutant Cure (as created by Worthington Pharmaceuticals) has been found. The X-Men have been working for several months to seek out and cure all infected humans - single-handedly. Both the government and the Brotherhood are not to be trusted with the 'cure weapons' that were created for the administration of the human cure. The weapons fire rays of radiation - derived from a machine found during a mission to the pentagon - that eliminate the mutated X-Gene virus that resides within normal homo sapiens. Unfortunately, it was created originally as a weapon against mutants (similarly to the Sentinels) and has one of four effects on homo superiors: loss of mutation, evolution of mutation, advancement of mutation or death. During their missions to administer this cure to the human beings (affectionately nicknamed 'Darkseekers') it was discovered that when bitten by infected homo sapiens, that real mutants (X-Men, etc) are infected with a tainted form of the mutant cure that has been exposed both to other mutants and to homo sapiens genes. The result is that their mutations go unaffected, however, they begin to take on traits of the infected homo sapiens (see above) and more. Mutants that are bitten by uncured humans begin displaying symptoms of classic vampirism. As the world begins to put itself together again (much thanks going to the X-Men and Brotherhood) what sort of niche will these new Mutant Vampires find? Will the new world be sympathetic to their plight? Or will they be seen as monsters? How will they use their new abilities? And how will the newly formed governments decide to deal with problems that arise concerning these 'vampires'? It is late spring/summer of 2008 (threads are dated). We've set the game in the 'not too distant future' as it's been hinted at in the X-trilogy. So, in theory, the events at Liberty Island would've taken place around 2005, and the Alkali Lake incident would've been around 2006. Very general here. In the game, in relation to the films, we've guesstimated that Xavier's death happened in late spring, so we're only a few months ahead of that (also a few months after the cure battle). Here's the x-men films timeline that applies to this game. The professors have gathered a larger staff and readied themselves and their protégés to rebuild their lives and keep their mission on track. The X-Jet (Blackbird) has been rebuilt. Also, there as been installed a 'SmartCom' system throughout the mansion. This system enables those who wear earpieces to hear any selected conversation within range of planted intercom panels. It also allows video surveillance through the mansion and the bases of operations/contact are in Xavier's/Storm's offices. While in their offices, Storm and Xavier can request conversations or meetings with anyone in the school, and the SmartCom recognizes their names and aliases and searches the rooms they frequent most. All of this has been put in place due to the lack of communication after the death of the professor. Such a large and technologically advanced facility must maintain propriety and the ease of transmissions. Since Xavier's return in his brother's body, the system is still in use by non-telepaths. Now that the cure for mutation is wearing itself thin in the mutants who partook, other forces are beginning to repair themselves and rebuild as well, including the Brotherhood. The government was clearly involved in the production and use of the mutant 'cure', developed by Worthington Pharmaceuticals, as they had weapons armed with the cure on a mutant-only mobile prison, and the base of operations for the distribution and development of the cure was on previously owned government property. The cure has proven to be ineffective. William Striker possessed files and programs and blueprints for massive mechanical men that would target and capture mutants of a dangerous nature. Copies of these files were taken from his possession in previous years and were placed in the hands of the X-Men. The files were put to use to create a program in the Danger Room to aid in the training of new recruits to the X-Team. These massive titans are referred to as 'Sentinels'. The government is rather frantic. The Phoenix, Magneto, the Brotherhood and the Morlocks... all radicals, terrorists. Far too dangerous to be left unchecked. An Act of Registration for Mutants failed miserably. An optional cure proved to be unworthy and useless. What will be the next option for a desperate and frightened council of leaders? Force. Metallic force, embodied in a vision created by one of the sickest men who ever entered the United States Military: William Stryker's Sentinels. However, they have five years of technology and development that any knowing mutant would be utterly surprised to find. If you're with us, then be with us. |
